Rebecca Cardon

Rebecca Cardon grew up in Virginia, but now lives in Los Angeles California. Unlike many of the fit babe we cover, she is not a figure, fitness, or bikini competitor. Despite what she looks like (i.e. a fitness model), Rebecca is actually a powerlifter. She holds a world record in bench press. She set this record several years ago at the age of 17 when at a bodyweight of 105 lbs, she put up an incredible 130 lbs. In doing so, she destroyed the previous record of 117.5 lbs.

To be fair, one reason Rebecca has such unusual strength is genetics. A few years back, her father won a senior record when he was able to bench press over 360 lbs at a bodyweight of 160 lbs.

After moving to LA to pursue acting, Rebecca landed a few small roles here and there. It was when she was featured on Amazing Race that she was nationally and internationally recognized. more Rebecca Cardon

Ms Olympia 2012 Winners

We generally don’t cover the women’s bodybuilding scene as closely as we do women’s fitness and fitness modeling. But that doesn’t mean we don’t care, or we aren’t interested. On September 29, the Ms Olympia contest went down, with a few records about to topple. The placings:

1st Iris Kyle
2nd Debi Laszewski
3rd Yaxeni Oriquen
4th Alina Popa
5th Brigita Brezovac
6th Sheila Bleck

Iris has now matched Lenda Murray’s record in winning eight Ms Olympia titles. Word on the street is that if anybody has a chance of knocking Iris off the top of the mountain it’s Debi. She looked better at this contest than I’ve ever seen her. She placed fourth in the 2011 Ms Olympia, so that’s obviously a big improvement. But Iris is incredibly dominant right now. My prediction is she will continue to reign until/unless:
a) she suffers an injury
b) the judging criteria suddenly produces a condition that favors a different kind of physique
c) she decides to retire

Alina and Yaxeni have been flirting with the crown for a couple of years now too. more Ms Olympia

Lindsay Messina

Lindsay Messina has been on the cover of Oxygen Magazine I think five times now. In 2012, 2010, 2009, 2008, and 2007. You might think something bad happened in 2011, but don’t worry she was actually a spokesmodel that year for Oxygen at the Arnold Classic.

Lindsay stays pretty busy in the industry. Here’s a list of her whereabouts in 2011:
– WBFF Judge
– Promoter for TEAM ROCKSTAR
– NY DIVA Workshops
– Dream Tan Spokes Model at The Arnold Classic
– Oxygen Spokes Model at The Arnold Classic
– Featured in REPS! Magazine
– Max fit Girl
– Cover of Fit & Firm Magazine
– Cover in Status Magazine
And then there was 2010:
– Featured Model for the AB Roller Ad
– WBFF Fit&Firm Magazine Cover Model
– Oxygen Magazine Cover
– Knock out Abs Ad
– Model Seminar at the Fitness Universe
– Model Seminar at the Fitness America
– Hosted Fitness Universe

There are seasoned, well-connected, mainstream models who don’t get this much work or stay this busy. How does she do it? Of course part of it is the way she looks. She is beautiful and has a perfect body. But don’t discount the attitude and the brainpower. This gal knows how to network, how to help other people and encourage them to help her. more Lindsay Messina
